After a career as a corporate lawyer, public service leadership roles in Local Government and the NHS, Strategy Consultancy and "Big Charity", Alex has been the Chief Executive at Adur & Worthing Councils since 2013. The Councils are widely regarded as innovative in their approach (being shortlisted for the LGC Council of the Year Award for 2020). Alex is active in community and social innovation work, for several years chairing abandofbrothers (a social enterprise working with young men leaving the Criminal Justice system) and is interested in alternative models of social funding and banking.
Alex has chaired Future Creators since July 2019 and has a strong interest in creativity, young people and leads across the Greater Brighton Economic Area on the development of Creative Industries. Culturally he's never completely grown out of punk (though wider musical tastes span world music to opera) and he has a real enthusiasm for dance, performance art and digital media.
