Young Volunteers Help Evolve the Future at Brighton Dome

On Friday 4th July, the energy at Brighton Dome was electric. EVOLVE [25], a one-day creative careers event hosted by Silicon Brighton and packed with tech leaders, freelancers and future employers. The presence of young people at the event was electric and amazing to see.

We brought together a team of brilliant young volunteers, aged 18–25, who didn’t just attend - They powered the day.

From welcoming guests and issuing lanyards, to managing stages and capturing social content, these young adults were everywhere - building confidence, connections, and real-world experience across the creative and tech sectors.

Here's what they made happen:

  • Set the tone at front-of-house: greeting attendees, checking tickets.
  • Supported the event’s stages: handing out mics during Q&As.
  • Networked with stallholders and exhibitors: building their confidence and their contact lists.
  • Captured content: using their own creative eye to document the day
  • Stayed to pack down: showing leadership right through to the last moment.

Each volunteer received a digital badge to recognise their skills, had their travel and lunch covered, and walked away with something bigger—a tangible sense of belonging in the creative and tech world.

Why does this matter?

We know that not every young person sees themselves able to access the creative industries. That’s why Coastal Catalyst exists: to build visible, inclusive creative career pathways and create real, valuable opportunities.

A huge thanks...

To every young person who stepped up and made the day happen.
To our event partners and facilitators.
And to those behind the scenes, working to ensure young voices are not just heard, but leading.
